Sir Hamilton John Goold-Adams GCMG CB (born June 27, 1858 in Jamesbrook , County Cork , Ireland , † April 12, 1920 in Cape Town , South Africa ) was an Irish officer and colonial administrator.

Goold-Adams trained as a cadet on the Royal Navy's training ship HMS Conway until he decided to join the British Army . He received his officer's license with the Royal Scots and served mainly in southern Africa. There he reached the rank of captain in 1885 and the rank of major in 1895 . During the Second Boer War he was permanent commissioner of Bechuanaland and then commander of the city guard during the second half of the siege of Mafikeng , which made him mentioned twice in the war report .

He was appointed Deputy Commissioner and later Lieutenant Governor of the Orange River Colony under Governor Alfred Milner, 1st Viscount Milner from 1901 to 1907. He was promoted to Companion in 1902 and to the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George in 1907 .

He returned to England in 1911 and married the Canadian Elsie Riordon on July 4th of the same year . He was later appointed High Commissioner of the Crown Colony of Cyprus . In 1914 he was appointed governor of Queensland and took office on March 15, 1915. He remained Governor of Queensland until February 3, 1920.

After he retired, he returned to England. On board a ship he fell ill with pleurisy and died in Cape Town in 1920 .
