Let's Wait Awhile is a song by Janet Jackson from the year 1987 , that from her, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis was written and Melanie Andrews. It appeared on the Control album .

history

Let's Wait Awhile was written by Jackson, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Melanie Andrews and produced by Jackson, Jam and Lewis. It is the first song that Jackson participated in the production.

After his release on 6 January 1987, reached Pop - R & B - Soul -Titel in the United States No. 2 and Jackson's fifth Top 5 hit was sequentially.

In the United Kingdom, the song was released on March 9, 1987 and enjoyed similar success. A month after its release, the song peaked at number 3 on the UK charts and stayed on the charts for a total of 10 weeks. The song was later honored with a silver record in the UK.

In Brazil, the song was also successful in the same year when it was heard as the theme song for the telenovela Brega Chique on Globo TV.

The song is about waiting for the right moment to have sex . The song can also be interpreted as a hymn for sexual abstinence , as this song became a hit as AIDS spread around the world. The melody of the verses comes from the song Daisy Jane by the folk rock trio America from 1975.

The song was a forerunner for Janet Jackson's more sexually liberated image, which culminated with the Rhythm Nation 1814 song Someday Is Tonight , which can be seen as Jackson's willingness to enter intimate relationships further than her previous titles. On their album janet. all songs deal with the topic of sexual intimacy. Jackson's album 20 YO is followed by the title With U after Let's Wait Awhile . With U takes place after an act of intimacy in which two lovers attract each other, which, according to Jackson, ended in "romantic confusion".

On the B-side of the single, a cool summer mix of the songs Pretty Boy and Nasty appeared .

Melody Thornton sang the chorus of Let's Wait Awhile 2007 on Jibb's single Go Too Far .

Jackson sang the song so far on her Rhythm Nation 1814 tour, Janet. -Tour, The Velvet Rope -Tour, All for You -Tour, Rock Witchu -Tour and the Number Ones: Up Close and Personal -Tour.
