Lev Rywin

Lev Rywin (born November 10, 1945 in Niżnyj Alkiejew , Tatar ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Polish film producer who made headlines internationally , especially due to the so-called Rywin affair .

Rywin came to Poland with his parents in the 1950s. He speaks four languages, although he still speaks Polish with a Russian accent. Lew Rywin worked for the Polish state television TVP from 1984 to 1991 . Until 1989 he was the head of the foreign trade department and until 1991 deputy president of the television station. In 1991 he founded the film production company Heritage Films , which he made the largest film production company in Poland. Later he also became president of Canal + Polska and was on the board of Canal + until 2003 .

In July 2002, the corruption scandal known as the Rywin Affair began. As a result, Rywin was sentenced to two and a half years in prison, later reduced to two years. He was arrested again in May 2009. The prosecution accused him of commissioning a false medical report to prevent his arrest.
