Alexander Bastiaan Martin "Lex" Veldhuis (born December 29, 1983 in Vlissingen ) is a Dutch poker player . He is also a commentator for the European Poker Tour and the Triton Super High Roller Series .

Personal

Veldhuis enjoyed doing sports during his youth and played the real-time strategy game StarCraft , through which he met Bertrand Grospellier . Veldhuis began studying criminology at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam , which he dropped out due to his poker career. He was dating the poker player Evelyn Ng . Veldhuis temporarily lived in Las Vegas and now lives in Toronto and Vlissingen. He has been engaged since November 2018.

Poker career

Veldhuis has been playing poker since 2003 and came to the online poker room PokerStars through Bertrand Grospellier in 2005 , where he initially played under the nickname RaSZi . He later became a member of Team PokerStars under the nickname L. Veldhuis and is still a member today. His game can be regularly followed on the Twitch streaming portal , which Veldhuis has almost 250,000 followers. He was named "Streamer of the Year" twice in a row at the Global Poker Awards for 2018 and 2019 . Since 2005, Veldhuis has also occasionally taken part in renowned live tournaments .

In February 2006 Veldhuis was successful for the first time at the main event of the European Poker Tour and landed in Deauville, France , in 20th place for 8,800 euros in prize money. In the summer of 2007 he played in Las Vegas and placed in the money once at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and twice at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino . Its highest ever live prize money won Veldhuis at the 2009 WSOP , he in a tournament of the variant No-Limit Hold'em with 40,000 US dollar took buy-in seventh place out of 201 players, while winning over $ 250,000. In October 2010 Veldhuis won the Dutch Poker Open in Rotterdam with a prize of over 60,000 euros.

In total, Veldhuis has earned almost US $ 700,000 with poker in live tournaments. He is also a commentator on the Triton Super High Roller Series with Randy Lew .
