Li Ruofan

Li Ruofan ( Chinese  李若 凡 , Pinyin Lǐ Ruòfán ; born April 30, 1978 in Suzhou (Jiangsu) ) is a Chinese chess player who played for the Singapore Chess Federation from 2007 to 2017 .

Life

Li Ruofan learned to play chess at a chess school in Suzhou. She is married to the chess grandmaster Zhang Zhong , with whom she switched to the Singapore Chess Federation at the same time. In November 2017 both switched back to the Chinese Chess Federation. She names Alexander Alekhine as her chess role model .

successes

In September 2001 she won the Asian women's individual championship in Chennai with 9 points from 11 games and half a point ahead of S. Vijayalakshmi . In 2002 she won the World Championship of the FISU University Association in Ulaanbaatar . In October 2003 she won the GACC women's tournament in Kuala Lumpur with 8 out of 8 points and 3 points ahead. She became the Chinese women's champion in July 2006 in Wuxi with 8.5 out of 11 and one point ahead of Wang Pin . In February 2007 she won the JAPFA Chess Festival in Jakarta by 5 out of 6 and 2 points. She won the festival again in April 2008.

She is the Women's Grand Master (WGM). Since November 2007 she has also been awarded the title of International Master (IM). She achieved the standards for the IM title at the Qingdao Chess Festival 2002, the Singapore Open 2005 and the 4th IGB Dato Arthur Tan Malaysian Open 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. Her Elo rating is 2323 (as of March 2018), which puts her in 16th place in the Chinese women's Elo ranking. She was last among the top 25 in the women's world rankings in January 2003. Her highest rating was 2433 from January to September 2003.

National team

She played for the B-Team of the Chinese women's national team at the 1999 Asian Cup in Shenyang on the second board. The team took second place. With Singapore she took part in the 2012 Chess Olympiad .

In the Chinese Team Championship, Li Ruofan played for Guangdong from 2005 to 2008 , for Beijing North Olympic in 2013 and for Hangzhou Bank in 2018 .
