Liane Knüppel (born October 1, 1953 in Karlsruhe ) is a German educator and politician ( FDP ). From 1977 to 1978 Knüppel was federal chairwoman of the Socially Liberal University Association (SLH).

Life and education

After graduating from high school in 1973, Knüppel studied pedagogy , political education and sociology at the PH Rhineland , Bonn department from 1974 to 1983 , from which she graduated in 1983 as a qualified pedagogue .

Liane Knüppel is married to Hartmut Knüppel and has two children.

Professional background

After completing his studies, Knüppel worked as a freelance seminar leader and moderator from 1991 with a focus on senior policy , internet, women and work for ministries and non-profit organizations, etc. a. for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation . Liane Knüppel began her involvement in university politics at the University of Düsseldorf a . a. with the establishment of the independent university group Arbeitsgemeinschaft progresslicher Studenten (AFS) and as a member of the Physics Student Council . From 1977 to 1978 she was federal treasurer of the SLH from 1977 to 1979 while she was federal chairwoman of the Social Liberal University Association .

In 1980 Knüppel was a co-initiator and founding member of the Young Liberals (JuLis), the later youth organization of the FDP, and active at the federal, district and district levels in Bonn . She was a long-time supporter of Guido Westerwelle . In 2006, together with Daniel Bahr , Hartmut Knüppel , Hans-Joachim Otto , Gisela Piltz , Joachim Stamp and Johannes Vogel, she founded the Netzwerk 80 eV association as an association of all federal board members and federal managing directors of the Young Liberals since 1980 and was its first chairman until 2016.

In 2001 Knüppel was a co-initiator and founding member of the Liberal Seniors (LiS @) of the official senior citizens' organization of the FDP and a longstanding member of the board.

In the association of scholarship holders and old scholarship holders of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (VSA), the alumni association of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, with more than 2,200 members, Knüppel was deputy chairwoman from 2006 to 2010 and chairwoman from 2010 to 2018.

Knüppel has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom since 2009 and, together with Ludwig Theodor Heuss , has been deputy chairwoman since 2010 . The board of trustees elects the members of the foundation's board and monitors their work. In 2019 she also became a member of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
