Love rather unusual - A relationship with obstacles (Eng. Original title: Watching the Detectives ) is an American comedy film from 2007 . Directed by Paul Soter , who also wrote the script.
action
The film opens with a 1940s-style sequence in which a detective shoots a criminal for being late in returning a video. It turns out to be a commercial for Gumshoe Video , owned by Neil playing the detective. Neil is a lover of the movies he knows many about. The next day, Violet comes into the store, who steals 50 dollars from Neil and makes an appointment with him. After the appointment, they go to the competing Media Giant video store , where they lock themselves up after business hours and publish numerous DVDs. They flee when police officers appear unexpectedly. Neil says this is his first adventure in a long time.
The next day, Neil is questioned by police officers about the burglary at Media Giant . Violet appears and laughs at Neil along with the supposed police officers. Later she goes to bed with him. She tells him about their love affairs, whereupon Neil breaks up with her.
Neil discovers that he misses Violet. She calls him and asks him to come to her, which he does. Violet steals from criminals and fabricates clues that point to Neil as the perpetrator, for which he is being pursued. Violet later tells him that it was also a joke, and replies that life with her is interesting.
Reviews
Jay Weissberg wrote in Variety magazine on May 14, 2007 that the lead actor's play remains "lively" even though the plot is flawed. The film is different from Is' what, Doc? so that the character played by Lucy Liu deliberately creates chaos. Liu play with relish and use her charm to save the portrayed character from annoyance. Her and Murphy's chemistry carry the film.

The film was shot in New York City and a few locations in New Jersey . Its world premiere took place on May 1, 2007 at the Tribeca Film Festival , which was followed by several other film festivals. On February 14th, 2008 it was released in selected cinemas in the USA.
