Lieshout is a village in the Dutch municipality of Laarbeek in the province of North Brabant . Lieshout has about 4275 inhabitants and is known for its Swinkels brewery (formerly Bavaria) .

history

Archaeological research in Lieshout has shown that the area has been around since 1100 BC. Was inhabited. The present village was founded in the 8th century as a Franconian allod . At the end of the 12th century, the Heer van Lieshout donated the allod of the Floreffe Abbey in what is now Belgium . In 1698, the Floreffe Abbey transferred the High Glory of Lieshout to the Postel Abbey, which is also located in what is now Belgium . This abbey sold most of its properties in Lieshout to local farmers within seven months .

In 1714 the abbey sold the remaining land and buildings and the manorial rights to a noble family from Holland . This family sold the manorial rights to a textile manufacturer from Helmond in 1842 . With the constitutional amendment of 1848 the lordly rights were abolished in the Netherlands, whereby Lieshout lost his lordly status. In 1851 Lieshout was made a parish .

The improved accessibility of Lieshout at the end of the 19th century led to the growth of industries, including the Bavaria brewery. On January 1, 1997, Lieshout's independence came to an end. At this point the village merged with Aarle-Rixtel and Beek en Donk to form the new municipality of Laarbeek.
