Liga MX Femenil Apertura 2017
The Apertura 2017 of the Liga MX Femenil was the opening tournament of the top division in Mexican women's football , which was newly introduced in 2017 . Participants were 16 of the 18 clubs that were also represented in the top division of men's football in the same season .

The 16 participants were divided into two groups of eight teams each, who competed in this half-season in one home and one away game, but did not meet the teams in the other group. The groups were divided in principle according to regional criteria, with the women's football teams from Mexico City , Morelia , Pachuca , Toluca and Veracruz from the "southern" climes being represented in Group 1, while the teams to the north from the Guadalajara metropolitan area and Monterrey as well as from the cities of Aguascalientes , León , Querétaro and Torreón were assigned to group 2. Only the border town of Tijuana , located in the far north, also belonged to the "southern" group 1.
After the preliminary round, the two best teams in the group qualified for the semi-finals, in which the winner of Group 1 ( America ) placed second in Group 2 ( CD Guadalajara ) and the winner of Group 2 ( UANL Tigres ) placed second in Group 1 ( CF Pachuca ) met. The finalists were played in a home and return match, in which the runners-up in the preliminary round groups could qualify for the final matches, which were also played in a home and return match. The first champion in the history of the Liga MX Femenil was the women's football team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara .
