Justice League
The Justice League or League of Justice (also Justice League , Justice League of America or JL , JLA for short ) is a fictional superhero group that has appeared in the comics of the US publisher DC Comics since 1960 . It was invented by the comic book author Gardner Fox .
Originally, Superman , Batman , Wonder Woman , Flash , Green Lantern , Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter were members of the Justice League. Membership fluctuated over the years and the Justice League was expanded to include characters such as Green Arrow , Captain Atom , Shazam , Black Canary , The Atom , Hawkman , Elongated Man , Firestorm , Hawkgirl , Cyborg , Vixen , Plastic Man and Nightwing .
history
The Justice League first appeared in U.S. The Brave and the Bold # 28 in 1960 . Despite the meager sales figures for the magazine, the team enjoyed great popularity, which is why the Justice League got its own comic offshoot that same year . The enormous popularity of the team is due to the crossover of many popular DC heroes.
Founding members of the First League of Justice in DC historiography were Black Canary , Aquaman , Martian Manhunter , Green Lantern ( Hal Jordan ), and the Flash (Barry Allen) .
At the end of the 1980s, the founding history of the Justice League was rewritten in the wake of the Crisis on Infinite Earths . Since then, Black Canary has been considered a founding member in place of Wonder Woman, as Wonder Woman came into the "world of men" after the JLA was founded, according to new historiography. The team has also included Green Arrow , Hawkman , Hawkgirl , The Atom , Zatanna , Captain Marvel , Blue Beetle , Plastic Man, and dozens of other DC heroes over the years .
The group saw a revival in the late 1990s with Superman , Batman , the then-current Flash ( Wally West ) , the then-current Green Lantern ( Kyle Rayner ) , Wonder Woman , Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter .
Author Grant Morrison let the new team experience cosmic adventures of galactic proportions. The highlights of his years of work were the comic events DC One Million and his farewell work The Third World War .
Over the years the team or parts of it have also been called Justice League America , Justice League Europe , Justice League Task Force or Justice League International . Therefore, in the original, the entirety of the hero teams is also referred to simply as the Justice League (without any further addition).
Antagonists were the members of the Society for the injustice (Injustice League). They were recruited by Agamemno in cooperation with Lex Luthor to destroy the Justice League. For this they were promised rule over the earth, because Agamemno hoped that the destruction of the Justice League would lead to conquest of rule over the universe. "Reconquest" from his point of view, as his father had been until his murder - as the first intelligent being in the universe.
After the last restart of the DC Universe ( The New 52 ) in September 2011, there are still several Justice League teams. In addition to the classic Justice League , the Justice League Dark , as well as later started or already completed series such as the Justice League International (13 issues), Justice League of America (14 issues), Justice League 3000 and Justice League United .

TV Shows
Already from 1972 to 1985 the idea of the Justice League was loosely adapted in the cartoon series Die Superfreunde (Original: Super Friends ) and later a little more precisely in the series The League of the Just (Original: Justice League 2001-2004 and Justice League Unlimited 2004-2006 ).
Actual films
In 1997 a less successful real film was produced for American television under the title Justice League of America . This is a feature film that was originally intended to be the pilot for a television series of the same name, but which was not produced due to the lack of success. The film was also shown in Germany in 2005 and was broadcast by RTL . Directed by Félix Enríquez Alcalá . The Justice League consisted of the heroes Green Lantern / Guy Gardner ( Matthew Settle ), Ice ( Kim Oja ), The Atom ( John Kassir ), Fire ( Michelle Hurd ), The Flash ( Kenny Johnston ) and the Martian Manhunter / J 'onn J'onzz ( David Ogden Stiers ) together. Opponent was the Weatherman.
In October 2014, Warner Bros announced the production of two films with the Justice League as part of the DC film universe . Justice League started in November 2017; The Justice League Part Two was due to be released in theaters in 2019, but has since been canceled. The director was Zack Snyder .
