action
The English college student Anna falls in love with her American classmate Jacob, and the two have a passionate affair in Los Angeles. When Anna, who has exceeded her student visa, returns from a trip to London, she is denied entry to the United States and returns to England. The couple are forced to have a long-distance relationship.
Jacob visits Anna as often as his professional obligations allow him, while Anna's parents try to challenge the entry ban in court with the help of a lawyer. Anna's father proposes a marriage. Jacob returns to the States alone for the time being and begins a relationship with his work colleague Samantha. Anna, who suffers from the separation, now proposes to Jacob herself to marry. The couple are getting married in England. They are advised to wait 6 months before Anna applies for a visa. When a visa is still not granted, the marriage begins to run down and both begin relationships with other partners. Anna is promoted and her new boyfriend Simon proposes to her. When Anna's entry ban is lifted, she gives up boyfriend, job and apartment and flies to Los Angeles to see Jacob. The first encounter is rather cool and distant.
The film ends with the sequence of a shared shower, with fade-ins from happier times. How the relationship between the two will continue remains unclear.

Reviews
Christian Hoja from cellurizon.de gives a very extensive review and writes u. a .: “'Like Crazy' is not a superlative film, it doesn't tell the most beautiful, saddest or most dramatic love story of all time - and it's more touching than most films that try to do just that. 'Like Crazy', that's timeless 86 minutes, unpretentious enough not to dwell on current flows, neither cinematic nor narrative "
Kino.de comes to the conclusion: "Natural dialogues and well-observed everyday life in an ambitious low-budget love drama."
Markus Schu from wirsindmovies.com writes: “The film has a long lasting effect. He's busy. He's romantic, honest, and important. 'I love you' is not a statement in Doremus' film. 'I love you' becomes a question with hope for confirmation and response. Just watching that becomes a painful and intense experience. Recommendation? Yes, at your own risk. "
