Lilia Prado (born March 30, 1928 in Sahuayo , Michoacán , † May 22, 2006 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican actress who has appeared in over a hundred films and television productions. Especially in her early films, she also acted as a singer and dancer .

Life

After winning a Mexican beauty pageant , Leticia Lilia Amezcua Prado began working for the film industry and has been in this position for more than four decades . Her first film was the 1947 drama Ángel o demonio ( Eng . Angel or demon ), her last film Hembras de tierra caliente ( Eng . Women of the hot country ) premiered in 1991.

She played her first leading female role at the side of Adalberto Martínez in the 1949 film Confidencias de un ruletero (German. Confidences of a taxi driver ).

In the early 1950s, she starred in three films by famous Spanish director Luis Buñuel : The Path That Leads to Heaven , The Illusion Rides the Tram and Abyss of Passion , an adoption from Wuthering Heights .

For her life's work, Lilia Prado was awarded the Mexican Ariel de Oro Film Prize by the Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas in 1999.

She died at the age of 78 as a result of kidney disease , which combined with an additional lung failure caused a fatal heart attack .
