Ariel de Oro

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ariel de Oro ( Spanish , roughly translated: “Golden Ariel”) is the highest award in the Mexican film industry for individuals and institutions who have made a name for themselves in film in Mexico. It has been awarded by the Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas since 1986 during the award of the Premio Ariel . From 1988 to 1990 the prize was not awarded. On the occasion of the 50th award of the “Premio Ariel” in 2008, 15 personalities were honored together with an “Ariel de Oro”. Before the introduction of the “Ariel de Oro” - up to and including 1988 - a “Premio Especial” was awarded at the “Premio Ariel” for services to the Mexican film industry.
