Liliane Chappuis

Liliane Chappuis (born June 27, 1955 in Freiburg im Üechtland ; † June 25, 2007 in Corpataux-Magnedens ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

biography

Chappuis began her political career in 1986 in Corpataux-Magnedens in the canton of Friborg , where she was elected to the municipal executive. In 1996 she became mayor. As a representative of the Social Democrats, she was in the Freiburg Grand Council from 1990 to 1999 , and from 1997 to 2002 she was also President of the cantonal party. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 1999 she was elected to the National Council. After failing to be re-elected in the 2003 elections , she slipped in early 2007 for Erwin Jutzet , who had been elected to the Freiburg State Council.

In addition to her political offices, she was also a member of the central board of Procap , a Swiss self-help organization for people with disabilities, president of the Freiburg organization La Traversée , which looks after people with social and psychological problems, deputy director of the Internet education server educa.ch and member of the management of the Swiss specialist office for Information Technologies in Education (SFIB), where she was responsible for finances, personnel policy and technical matters.

Chappuis was a leading actress in the documentary Mais im Bundeshuus . She died of a heart attack on the evening of June 25, 2007, two days before her 52nd birthday. Her successor is the Grand Councilor Jean-François Steiert . In the last elections before her death, he landed on the second substitute behind Chappuis and was nominated by his party for the National Council elections in May 2007.
