Lilien circular route (Rehfelde)

The Lilien-Rundweg is a 17-kilometer circular hiking trail in Rehfelde , a municipality in the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg . It connects four stone churches that were built in the 13th century by the Cistercian monks from the Zinna monastery .

Historical background and origin

The area around the community Rehfelde was settled by Slavs at the beginning of the 13th century . The Wettins gradually pushed them back and built villages and towns to consolidate their power. This is how places like Rehfelde arose, but also formerly independent villages like Zinndorf or Werder . Around 1230, the Margrave Heinrich III. the Zinna monastery near Jüterbog some of these villages, which then built village churches out of field stones . The monks used a white lily as a coat of arms , which was supposed to remind of the preaching of the Lord .

On the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Christianization of the region, the Rehfelde community opened a circular trail in 2005 that leads past three of these churches. With the name Lilien-Rundweg , the community wanted to create a link to the work of the monks.

The municipality specifies the Rehfelde train station as the official starting point for the circular route . From there the path leads in a north-easterly direction up Bahnhofstrasse, which turns into Rehfelder Strasse. At the intersection, the path branches off in an easterly direction to Gladowshöher Straße via the Jakobsweg to Garzau. In the castle park there is the Garzau pyramid , the largest field stone pyramid in Germany. In Garzau the village church Garzau is still reached. The circular route continues in a southerly direction on the Garzauer Weg, which crosses the Berlin – Kostrzyn railway line and reaches its next stop in Werder at the Werder village church . In the churchyard of the building, the Cistercian lily is reproduced with box trees . To the south of the village, the circular route runs along the Zinndorfer Stege in a south-westerly direction to Zinndorf. The Sankt-Annen-Kirche is located here . If you leave the village in a southerly direction, the circular path branches off after leaving the village in a westerly direction. He crossed on the way Zinndorfer the conservation area Lichtenower Mühlenfließ . In Rehfelde-Dorf, the path branches off in a northerly direction on Lagerstraße and reaches the Rehfelde church . Behind the village green, the circular route runs in an easterly direction across the fields, then branches off in a northerly direction and reaches the Klumsberg. He crosses the Rehfelder Chaussee to arrive back in Rehfelde following the Ahornallee in an easterly direction. At the end of the street, this branches off in a north-easterly direction into Bahnhofstraße and after crossing the tracks again, it reaches Rehfelde station.
