Ned Luke

Ned Luke (born October 4, 1958 in Danville , Illinois ) is an American actor and voice actor . Luke was an actor in minor supporting roles for a long time until he gained international fame for his role as Michael De Santa in the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Private life

Ned Luke has four siblings. His grandfather Paul Birch was also an actor. In 1977 he graduated from Danville High School. He later studied at the University of Illinois at Champaign .

Since November 12, 1997, Luke has been married to Amy Sax, a yoga teacher and actress. He has a son who was born in 2002. He lives with his family in Westchester County , New York .

Career

Ned Luke had his first major role as a voice actor in the cartoon Rover Dangerfield . In the 1990s and 2000s he played small supporting roles in several television programs and films, often as a police officer.

In 2007, Luke decided to take time off from acting to devote himself to raising his son. He and his family moved back from Los Angeles to his hometown of Danville, where he opened a restaurant with his brother. After two years, he decided to return to acting and moved to New York City with his family . There his agent suggested that he audition as one of the protagonists for the video game Grand Theft Auto V , but this was initially rejected by Luke. Still, Luke took the time to read the script, which he was ultimately convinced of.

So Luke took on the role of Michael De Santa , a former bank robber with marital problems. His role as Michael De Santa helped him gain international fame as the game sold very well.

In 2017 Luke got a leading role in a movie for the first time in his career, in the horror film American Gothic he played Bill Milner .

Trivia

  • In a hidden camera action, Luke posed as the owner of a supposedly newly opened gun shop in New York. There he "advised" potential buyers and offered them used weapons for sale. The used weapons were all passed off as weapons that killed people. Shocked by this knowledge, the prospective buyers backed away from a possible purchase of a weapon and changed their opinion about the US American gun laws during the later questioning.
  • Luke is almost entirely deaf in his right ear.
