Lilium bakerianum ( chin.滇 百合, diān bǎi hé) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Asiatic section .

description

Lilium bakerianum is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 60 to 100 centimeters. The stem is papillae . The leaves are linear or lanceolate, between 4 cm and 7.5 cm long and 4 mm to 7 mm wide. They are distributed around the stem and papillary at the edge and the median vein. Sometimes the leaves are fluffy white on both sides.

It blooms from June to September with up to six nodding or horizontal, bell-shaped flowers that are fragrant. The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The outer bracts are lanceolate, the inner somewhat wider and 6.5 cm to 8.3 cm long and between 14 mm and 18 mm wide. The basic color of the flowers is white, greenish, pink, yellow or purple, often with purple or red points. The anthers are about 16 mm tall and the filaments about 30 mm long. The stylus is 22 mm to 26 mm long and the Nektarien are not papillate, the ovary is about 2 to 4 mm wide and 17 to 20 mm long. The stamens tend together. The seeds mature in elongated oval seed capsules that are 25 mm to 35 mm long .

The bulbs are round and reach a diameter of about 2.5 cm, they are covered with white oval-lanceolate scales.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

distribution

Lilium bakerianum grows mainly in pine forests , but also on grassy slopes, forest edges or in thickets, often near water. The species is found at altitudes from 1500 m to 3800 m above sea level.

The species is common in the provinces of Yunnan , Guizhou and Sichuan in the People's Republic of China . However, isolated occurrences can also be found in Myanmar .

There are five varieties:

  • Lilium bakerianum var. Bakerianum
  • Lilium bakerianum var. Aureum Grove & Cotton : The leaves are bare, the flowers yellow with purple or crimson dots.
  • Lilium bakerianum var. Delavayi (Franchet) EH Wilson : The leaves are bare, the tepals yellowish or greenish-white with purple or light red points.
  • Lilium bakerianum var. Rubrum Stearn : The leaves are bare, tepals purple-red or pink with purple or red spots.
  • Lilium bakerianum var. Yunnanense (Franchet) Sealy ex Woodcock & Stearn : The leaves are white-tomentose on both sides, tepals white or pale pink without points.
