history

Limbach was first mentioned in 1334 . The name probably goes back to Lehmbach , as the soils in this area actually consist mainly of clay. The Lindbach variant is also conceivable. On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Birkenhain was incorporated. On January 1, 1974 Limbach was incorporated into Wilsdruff. Between 1899 and 1972 the place had a connection to the Freital-Potschappel-Nossen narrow-gauge railway with the "Birkenhain-Limbach stop" .

Manor

The manor consists of a manor house and four former barns, stables and residential buildings. The total area of the estate is around 12,000 square meters.

It belonged to a Taubenheimer until 1458 when he sold it to Hans von Schönberg . 550 years, until 1945 the estate remained in the family's possession. After that, resettlers and refugees moved in there. In 1998 it had to be abandoned due to its deterioration. Since 2001 the estate has been renovated by the Life and Work Foundation. In 2014, the expansion of the two former residential buildings with stables into guest and workhouses was completed. In addition to the renovation, the construction of a new chapel and a training center is planned on the site.

Under the leadership of August Georg Kenstler , the first "Artamanschaft" was deployed on this manor in April 1924 .

The current appearance of the former manor house essentially dates from the first half of the 16th century. It consists of a rectangular building with an attached side wing and a staircase tower. There is a seating niche portal next to the tower. The house has a floor area of 370 square meters and a gross floor area of 970 square meters.

The former residential building with stable and barn in the north of the complex with a floor area of 665 square meters and a gross floor area of 1830 square meters was the first to be renovated for today's use. There is a large hall on the upper floor.
