Linafoot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Linafoot (short for: Ligue nationale de football ) is the top football league in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . It is held annually by the clubs of the Fecofa (Congolese Football Association).

The way the championship is held has changed several times since it was first held in 1958. In order to solve the problem of the large distances between the clubs' home locations as best as possible and to reduce the travel costs for the teams, three regional leagues (for the west, the east and for the middle / south) with qualifications for a final round were introduced. In the 2012 and 2013 seasons there was a national league with 14 teams, before returning to the regional leagues ( Zone de développement , literally in German: "Development Zone ") with a final round for the 2013/2014 season.
