The Catena Arena (until 2019 Lindab Arena , also known as Ängelholms Ishall ) is an ice rink in the Swedish town of Ängelholm . The hall is the venue for the home games of the ice hockey club Rögle BK from the highest Swedish league, the Svenska Hockeyligan . The name sponsor of the arena has been the Swedish company Catena AB since 2019 .
history
The Rögle BK played in the Vegeholms Ishall until 1981 when it was destroyed by fire. From 1983 you went to the games in Ängelholms Ishall. For the 2008/09 season they moved into the Lindab Arena, which had 5,150 seats at the time, and was built on the site of Ängelholms Ishall. The opening game took place on September 20, 2008 between Rögle BK and Färjestad BK (4: 1). It took until January 2009 for the final completion. Originally, it was planned that Rögle would play his first three home games in Halmstad , but this could be avoided due to the rapid construction progress.
On the night of September 28, 2009, eight days after the opening, unknown persons devastated large parts of the interior of the Lindab Arena. The damage was then estimated at around SEK 300,000 .
With the promotion of Rögle BK to Svenska Hockeyligan in 2015/16 , the hall had to be adapted to the requirements of the league. The ice surface was lowered by 60 cm to create space for 1,000 more seats. After this renovation, the hall offers 5,051 places, which are divided into 3,935 seats and 1,116 standing places. Catena AB has been the new name sponsor of the hall since May 2019.
