Lindenau is a district of the city of Heldburg in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .
location
The street village is located in the Heldburger Land in a floodplain on the state road 1135 , embedded in meadows, fields and forests. At the southern end is the historic town of Friedrichshall , a former saltworks. The northwestern neighbor is Einöd and the southeastern neighbor is Autenhausen in Bavaria .
history
In 1151, according to the community chronicle, the place was first mentioned for work in a salt works . This date is also roughly confirmed, February 2, 1152 is proven.
The environment is a rural area characterized by agriculture. Once there was Friedrichshaller Bitterwasser there, and in 1913 it was awarded a gold medal at the World Medical Congress. Justus von Liebig confirmed that it helped with stomach and intestinal problems. Today there is a residential and nursing home at the former production facility. In 2002, the village received the bronze medal in the competition Our village has a future . The Althellinger Grund and Kreckaue nature reserve is located south of Lindenau and extends into Bavarian territory.
