Rieth is a district of the city of Heldburg in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

location

The place Rieth is in the Heldburger Land north of Hellingen at the foot of the Kirchberg . The district boundary also partially forms the border between Thuringia and Bavaria . The country road 2640 leads through the district and on to Gompertshausen .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 802–817. The place, however, refers to the document of Abbot Egbert von Fulda from the year 1049. The name Rieth refers to the wetlands found at that time. Therefore there are many sources in the district . Rieth was and is a rural and agricultural village. Until 1994 Rieth was an independent municipality. Since then, three residential areas have been created and the village renewal has been carried out. The village is inhabited by 340 people. There is also an agricultural company in the village.

Attractions

The All Saints Church , a former fortified church , dates from 1682 in its current form.
