Linn Selle (born September 5, 1986 in Havixbeck ) is the President of the European Movement Germany .

education

After graduating from the Anne Frank Comprehensive School in Havixbeck in 2005 and completing a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Bonn and the IEP Paris , Selle completed a master's degree in European Studies at the European University Viadrina . 2017 doctorate them there for "doctor of philosophy" with her doctor father Timm Beichelt the role of the European Parliament and the Bundestag in the negotiations on the multiannual financial framework of the EU 2014-2020.

Since February 2015 Selle has been working at the German Consumer Association (VZBV) in Berlin-Kreuzberg as a consultant for international trade policy.

European politics

On a voluntary basis , Selle was initially involved in youth policy and now in association policy in European policy. She was most recently elected President of the European Movement Germany on July 2, 2018 . She regularly expresses herself in public on current issues of European politics, for example at Phoenix or Maybrit Illner .

From 2010 onwards, Linn Selle was active in the federal executive committee of the Young European Federalists Germany , from 2012 to 2014 as their deputy federal chairwoman and from June 2013 to November 2014 she acted as federal secretary. Selle has been a volunteer on the board of the European Movement Germany since June 2014 and on the federal board of the European Union Germany since May 2017 . Linn Selle caused a sensation in April 2014 when she initiated an online petition to show the Europe-wide TV duel between all the European top candidates for the office of European Commission President in the main program of ARD and ZDF .

Other engagement

Selle is a member of the SPD and was elected district delegate from the Berlin-Neukölln district in February 2018 .

Award

Linn Selle is the winner of the Prize Women in Europe - Germany 2014 of the European Movement Germany . This makes her the youngest recipient to date. She was awarded the prize on January 26, 2015. The choice of the jury was justified with the commitment of Linn Selle:

“The election jury for the European Women Award, which Selle selected from a total of six nominees, found the 27-year-old's commitment to be“ remarkable ”: At an age when young people have to weigh up between volunteering and a lucrative part-time job and political involvement with larger ones The jury justified its decision that Selles promises career opportunities, and that Selles has been on the board of JEF for four years now.
