Lioba Baving (born September 30, 1965 in Münster ) is a German psychologist and professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel .

Life

Origin and education

As the daughter of a veterinarian and a teacher , Lioba Baving grew up in Münster, where she also attended elementary school from 1971 and the old-language Schiller grammar school from 1974 . After graduating from high school in June 1983, she began studying medicine at the University of Münster in the winter semester 1983/84 . In the 1985 summer semester, she received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . As a result of taking the preliminary medical examination (March 1986), Lioba Baving then moved to the University of Göttingen , where she also began studying psychology from the 1986/87 winter semester (March 1987 first section of the medical examination ). After passing the diploma examination for psychologists (April 1991), Lioba Baving initially worked from October 1991 to October 1992 as a research assistant and lecturer at the “Institute for Psychology” at the University of Göttingen. During this period, she also passed the second part of the medical examination in September 1992. This was followed from April 1993 by the two tertials in surgery and internal medicine , which she completed at the University Hospital of Thessaloniki . Professional development

After working at the University of Göttingen, Lioba Baving worked at the Central Institute for Mental Health in Mannheim ; in 2000 she completed her habilitation at the University of Heidelberg . Employment at the universities of Magdeburg and Utrecht followed . In October 2004 she was appointed professor and director of the clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Magdeburg. Since December 2005, Lioba Baving has been Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Christian Albrechts University and Director of the “Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Center for Integrative Psychiatry ZIP gGmbH”. One of the main research areas of Lioba Baving is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A stated goal of it is, "that every child and every young person in Kiel with a mental disorder on site can be treated and not somewhere else has to."
