Liquid funk
Liquid Funk ( Liquid Drum & Bass , Liquid DnB or Liquid for short ) is a sub-genre of Drum and Bass . This style is characterized by the multi-layered use of harmonies, melodies and atmospheric sounds and contains many influences from the musical directions jazz , soul , funk , blues and ambient .
Liquid funk is seen as a further development of the jazz step , with overlaps of the related sub-genre Atmospheric Drum and Bass .
history
The name Liquid Funk first appeared in 2000 when drum and bass producer Fabio released the compilation of the same name on the Creative Sources label. This was characterized by influences from other music styles such as ambient , funk , disco , house and trance as well as the widespread use of singing. But already in 1998 Grooverider released the album Mysteries Of Funk , which was characterized by its calm character and influences from the genres of jazz and funk.
