List of ancient historians at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of ancient historians at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn lists all ancient historians who were or are active as university lecturers at the Ancient History Department of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . This generally includes full, non-scheduled, guest and honorary professors as well as private lecturers . In justified exceptional cases, other lecturers can also be accepted.

Between 1818 and 1865, Ancient History was taught by Classical Philologists, Classical Archaeologists, and Historians. Since 1865, ancient history has been part of the new historical seminar founded by Heinrich von Sybel . Ancient history was represented by a professor who was also one of the three seminar directors. In 1929 there was an organizational and spatial separation of the ancient history from the historical seminar. A second chair was established in the mid-1960s.

The first column shows the name of the person and their life data, the second column shows entry into the university, and the third column shows their departure. Column four names the highest position achieved at the University of Bonn. At other universities, the corresponding lecturer may have made an even more extensive scientific career. The next column names special features, the career path or other information relating to the university or the seminar. The last column shows pictures of the lecturers, which is currently difficult due to the image rights.
