Ensembles

Ensemble town center Kleinheubach with castle area

Princely Löwenstein Castle Kleinheubach

The ensemble encompasses the castle area over the entire scope of the castle park, the market place within its post-medieval defensive wall with the free bank in front of it, as well as the western part of the Baugasse and the southern part of the main street, the layout and design of which is related to the classicist reorganization of the castle park entrance . - Kleinheubach is an impressive example of the symbiosis of a manorial seat with a rural market. The market town itself develops along the Marktstraße, which is slightly curved parallel to the main. It has rural properties throughout, whose residential buildings, predominantly plastered half-timbered houses from the 17th to 19th centuries. Century with saddle and half-hipped roofs, with the gable facing the street; Farm buildings are connected to the rear, behind them garden parcels extend on the west side to the town wall. The old town hall breaks through the building line on the western apex of the street arch. The opposite parish church, which rises on a former self-fortified hill on the banks of the Main, is set far back and therefore does not directly affect the street scene, but forms the summit of the view of the town on the other bank of the Main. The Fahrgasse, a short connection between Marktstrasse and Maintor, is characterized by a number of boatmen's houses from the 16th century, while the irregularly built Löwengasse shows the character of small farmers. With the construction of the princely palace since 1723 and the formerly baroque park, which was converted into an English garden style at the turn of the 19th century, the southern part of the village has acquired the character of an imperial count's residence of high standards. The late baroque and early classicist redesign also intervened in the formerly purely rural areas, regulating the building lane at right angles to Marktstrasse in the sense of baroque urban development. Partly also with residential and civil servants' houses was built, and created a new street axis in the main street, facing the main entrance to the castle. T. has preserved the historical building fabric. In parallel to the Baugasse, another street with Biedermeier-style houses, mostly with half-hipped roofs, was laid out at the northwest exit of the old town in the direction of the main street, with the two-storey front buildings. Many of the originally single-storey buildings were then extended in the course of the 19th and 20th centuries. With the side facing the river, the palace park takes part in the ensemble's special view of the Main. Boundaries: Main bank from Rüdenauer Bach to the south, castle park boundary to the west and north, behind the property boundaries of Hauptstrasse 7-23 (odd numbers), course of Hauptstrasse to the north, northern property boundary of Hauptstrasse 34, its straight line continuation east to the western town wall the western wall to the north, Bachgasse to Oste, course of the Rüdenauer Bach to the east. File number E-6-76-132-1.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
