Coat of arms of Burgstadt

Ensemble Freudenberger Strasse / Hauptstrasse

northern row of houses on the main street from the west

The ensemble includes the two main streets, which meet almost at right angles near the market town's Renaissance town hall, in the areas that are predominantly characterized by historical buildings. The place was handed over to the Mainz Cathedral Chapter by the Archbishop of Mainz in 1351 ; the rise that began afterwards is particularly evident in the town hall building from 1590/92. Almost all of the two streets are dominated by two-story gabled houses, including some with a half-hipped roof. Some of them show half-timbered houses, some of them plastered, and mostly come from the 16th to 19th centuries, probably built almost exclusively as arable citizens' or hacker's houses. The parish church with its western section is also part of the strict row development. The Krummgasse branching off by the town hall is characterized primarily by the development of small houses. Boundary: Freudenberger Strasse 1–4, 6–11, 15–25, 27–39, 41–44, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, 52, 54, 55, Hauptstrasse 1a, 1–10, 12, 14 –26, 28, 30, 32, 34, Krummgasse 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, Martinsgasse 2. File number: E-6-76-116-1.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
