Ensembles
Ensemble old town Klingenberg am Main
Klingenberg ( Lage ), located on a narrow strip of banks to the right of the Main , first mentioned as a town in 1276 , developed at the foot of the castle of the Lords of Klingenberg, first mentioned in 1219, as a densely packed, fortified bourgeois settlement, which was particularly prosperous through red wine growing and the mining of clay got. The castle, which was expanded many times in the late Middle Ages and lent several times by the Mainz Archbishopric , came into the ownership of the Archbishopric with the city in 1505. It has been in ruins since 1685; its fortifications are connected to the remains of the city fortifications by side walls between which the urban vineyard extends . - In the old town itself, mostly historical buildings have been preserved. The main street, which runs parallel to the Main and is bordered in the south by the only remaining gate, the late Gothic Brunntorturm, features bourgeois half-timbered houses from the 16th to the early 19th centuries and some Wilhelminian style buildings . The Kirchenstrasse, located parallel to it on the slope, is determined in its character by the elevated post-Gothic and neo-Gothic parish church ; together with the fountain gate it forms the crown of the bourgeois town. Hofstraße, Mainstraße, Lindenstraße are closed, mostly historical, built-up, in Hofstraße - in the northwest corner of the city - the large four-sided complex of the city palace of the Mainz bailiff rises, which was rebuilt after 1560 and interrupts the small bourgeois structure of the city. Just like the former rent office in Hauptstraße, the official palace manifests the former rule of Mainz, which lasted until 1803. - The cityscape, to which the former district court from the early 19th century also belongs as a state building, is almost completely undisturbed, the few Wilhelminian-style buildings did not cause any serious damage to the overall picture. The roof landscape of tile-covered gable roofs is also an essential part of this picture. Boundary: Mainstrasse 1–19 (odd numbers, southern and western property boundaries), Hofstrasse 1–13 (odd numbers, respectively western and northern property boundaries), Bahnhofstrasse 6, 8, Rathausstrasse 8, 4 / 4a, Bahnhofstrasse 16, Hauptstrasse 6, 5, northern side wall of the castle fortifications, Kirchenstrasse 13 (southern boundary of the property), Hauptstrasse 51, 53, 55, Brunnentorturm, Hauptstrasse 40, 38. File number E-6-76-134-1.
Ensemble Wilhelmstrasse
Contiguous row ( location ) of two-storey, neo-baroque tenement houses in yellow brick with red sandstone structures, built 1895–1900 on the mountain side of the street. The design of the houses and the generosity of the buildings manifested the city's prosperity through viticulture and clay mining in the late 19th century. Boundary: Wilhelmstrasse 49-77 (odd numbers). File number: E-6-76-134-2.
Ensemble town center Trennfurt
The ensemble ( location ) comprises the historical core area of the former rural, now industrially oriented town on the lower Main. Its focal point is the baroque, modern, extended Catholic parish church , which towers above a flight of stairs and a terrace . On the west side of it is the Trennfurter Straße, which is built on by rural half-timbered gabled houses mostly from the 17th century and the parish hall from the late 19th century - this one directly on the connecting staircase. - The beginnings of settlement in the ensemble area go back to Roman provincial times; Trennfurt is one of the smaller castra am Main. Boundary: Trennfurter Straße 72, 74, 76, 78, 80, 84/86, 85, 87, 88, Ankergasse 2/4, Kleine Gasse 1, Magdalenenstraße 2. File number E-6-76-134-3.
City fortifications
The city fortifications of Klingenberg have been preserved in individual sections of the wall. It was created as unplastered quarry stone masonry with scaffolding holes and loopholes. It originates from the 13th century and was renewed in the 15th century. In later times the wall, especially on the Main side, was built over with houses. The slope running down from the castle to the town is fortified by two side walls with the remains of square shell towers. The Brunntorturm is best preserved. A south-western round tower is built into a residential building. The north-western corner tower is presumably contained in the corner bay of the city palace. There are also remnants of the lower fence in front of it. File number: D-6-76-134-3.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
