List of chansons and releases by Jacques Brel
This list contains an alphabetical listing of the chansons of the Belgian chansonnier Jacques Brel as well as a chronological listing of his publications on audio and visual data carriers.
From the large number of LPs , EPs and singles , the list of publications is limited to those publications on which individual chansons were first published. If different formats were released at the same time, only the LPs are listed. Untitled albums are identified by a record company and chronological numbering.
In 1988 a collection of ten CDs was released in a box containing almost all of Jacques Brel's chansons published, but not all of the songs in their original versions. Therefore, in 2003 Universal Music released a new collection with 16 CDs, the so-called Boîte Integrale , in which all original recordings are gathered for the first time. In this edition, the previously untitled publications were subsequently given titles, which are listed here for identification.
For a list of the numerous cover versions of the chansons by Jacques Brel by other artists, see the list of artists of the chansons by Jacques Brel . For chart successes and music sales, see Jacques Brel's discography .
List of chansons
The list of Jacques Brel's chansons is in alphabetical order, but can also be sorted in the table header according to the year of publication or the comment. The year of publication is linked to the corresponding year in the Chronological Discography section . Brel wrote all of the chanson texts, and he translated two original texts by Rod McKuen and Joe Darion into French. In addition to Brel, his long-time companions Gérard Jouannest , François Rauber and Jean Corti composed as well as Lou Logist, Glen Powell, Jacques Vigouroux and Gaby Wagenheim in individual songs. Original melodies covered by Brel are by João Donato , Rod McKuen and Mitch Leigh . The translations into Flemish are by Ernst van Altena, Will Ferdy and Eric Franssen.
So far unpublished is Als men niets dan liefde heeft ( Quand on n'a que l'amour in Flemish) from 1961.
