List of judicial divisions in Dalmatia
This list of judicial districts in Dalmatia lists all former judicial districts in the Crown Land of Dalmatia .
history
The judicial districts of Dalmatia go back to the year 1849, when the basic features of a new judicial system for the Habsburg Empire were approved by Emperor Franz Joseph I. Justice Minister Anton von Schmerling subsequently outlined a reorganization of the judiciary in Dalamtien, which was approved on June 17, 1850 with an "Imperial Ordinance". At the same time, Emperor Franz Joseph I instructed the Minister of Justice to carry out this reorganization.
Justice Minister Franz von Krauß laid down the rough division of courts for Dalmatia in an ordinance in 1852, with a higher regional court in Zara and a regional court in each of the cities of Zara, Spalato, Ragusa and Cattaro. Instead of the 32 district courts locations outlined by Schmerling, 31 district courts were finally created in 1854, but for the most part in the locations already mentioned by Schmerling.
In addition to the original 31 judicial districts, four more were added before Dalmatia was split off:
- In 1870 the judicial district of Stari Grad ( Cittavecchia ) was created,
- In 1876 the judicial district of Biograd ( Zaravecchia ) followed.
- In addition, in 1903 the judicial district Tijesno ( Stretto ) and in 1911 the judicial district Blato ( Blatta ) were created.
- The seat of the original Risano judicial district was moved to Perast in 1903 ( Perast judicial district ).
