List of judicial districts in Bucovina
This list of judicial districts in Bukowina lists all judicial districts in the former Austrian crown land Bukowina .
history
The judicial districts in Bukovina were created by an imperial ordinance of November 6, 1850, with the establishment of a total of 17 judicial districts for Bukovina. These were the judicial districts of Chernivtsi, Section I, Section II of Chernivtsi, Zastawna, Kotzmann, Sadogura, Storoszenetz, Wischnitza, Waskoutz, Puttila, Radautz, Sereth, Seletin, Suczawa, Solka, Gura humora, Moldovan Kimpolung and Watra dorna. The 17 judicial districts were divided into four districts, in which the regional court of Czernowitz and the three district courts of Wischnitza, Radautz and Sucawa formed the first instance in civil and criminal matters for the judicial districts under them. All together were the regional court of Chernivtsi and the higher regional court of Lemberg assumed.
As early as 1854 the Imperial Ordinance was amended by a Ministerial Ordinance. By merging the judicial districts of Chernivtsi of the I. and II. Sections as well as the saving of the judicial district of Seletin, Bukowina was now divided into 15 judicial districts. The regional court of Czernowitz (for Czernowitz and the surrounding area, Sadagura, Kotzmann, Waskoutz and Zastawna), the district court of Suczawa (for the judicial districts of Suzawa, Dorna, Kimpolung and Gurahumora), the district court of Storoschinetz (for the districts of Storoschinetz , Puttilla and Wysnitz) and the Radautz District Court (for the Radautz, Solka and Sereth judicial districts).
The district courts initially also performed political and administrative tasks in the judicial districts under their control. It was not until the creation of the modern, political districts that the political and judicial administration was separated in the Habsburg Monarchy around 1868. For Bukowina, the existing 15 districts or judicial districts were merged into the eight districts of Czernowitz, Kimpolung, Kotzmann, Radautz, Sereth, Storozynetz, Suczawa and Wisznitz in 1868. For this purpose, the Puttila judicial district, which has now been dissolved, was re-established, with several changes of area between the judicial districts being implemented at the same time on March 28, 1870.
As a result, new judicial districts were created or reactivated again and again. On June 1, 1888, the Seletin judicial district in the Suczawa district was reestablished . The judicial district of Waschkoutz am Czeremosch was also established on November 1, 1898, the Bojan district on February 1, 1904, the Stulpikany district on September 1, 1910 and the Czudyn district on October 1, 1913 . In 1914, the establishment of the judicial district of Ober-Wików was also ordered. The crown land of Bukovina fell to Romania after the end of the First World War through the Treaty of Saint-Germain .
