(card)
2nd half of the 12th century and later (castle and palace complex) Significant building ensemble of local historical importance.

Subject entity with the following individual features:

  • Eichenallee (see Obj. 09246422),
  • Memorial stone for Prince Alexander von Schönburg-Hartenstein (see Obj. 08955873),
  • Four residential and farm buildings of the former manor (see Obj. 09246197 - August-Bebel-Straße 30, 32, 32b, 32c),
  • Hartenstein Castle (former castle) with castle ruins, farm buildings, gate tower in the eastern forecourt (former malt house) and remains of the surrounding wall, northern and eastern moat and castle hill with path (see Obj. 09246196 - August-Bebel-Straße 34, 36, 38) and
  • Schlossgarten (garden monument) as well
  • Parts of the former farmyard to the east of the palace complex (former Vorwerk - material entirety parts - August-Bebel-Straße 24, 26, 28, 30b, half of house No. 30).

Castle garden:

Sources: On the measuring table sheet 1874, the entire Schlossberg is provided with the fruit tree signature. The measuring table sheet 1922 in the 1943 edition shows the further development of the horticultural facilities. A small garden area with a roundabout is shown on the western castle plateau surrounded by the surrounding walls - inner garden. Furthermore, paths lead down from the western exit of this plateau on the northern mountain slope. This slope crossed by the path is provided with the typical park signature. One can therefore assume that this is a park-like area with a walk that has been enhanced with ornamental trees - outer garden. The southern slope of the Schlossberg is shown as a kitchen garden.

This design and use of the Schlossberg is evidenced by postcard images. The southern Schlossberg has a sparse population of low trees, some of which are recognizable as flowering fruit trees. The walled castle plateau has a round lawn with small conifers on the edge and tall roses in the middle. The sources are supported by a sketch of the location, published in 1924/25 in the journal Baussteine zur Geschichte der Stadt Hartenstein ... p. 93. It shows parts of the horticultural facilities in the ground plan in addition to the buildings of Hartenstein Castle. You can see how the entrances and exits are connected by means of curved, sometimes square-like, extended paths, the location of the roundabout and the other green areas on the castle plateau. From the courtyard one could not only get to the higher plateau, but also to the top terrace of the southern slope. Here, the laundry area at the Malzhaus is shown first and the so-called vegetable garden to the west.

  • Current findings / protected property: In the outer courtyard, two older linden trees (around the 19th century) flank the entrance to the upper castle plateau. Two more linden trees from this period can be found in this courtyard near the castle walls (at the foot of the rubble slopes). More trees (maple) are growing and already prepared for felling. - The four linden trees are to be preserved and replanted when they are removed.
  • The inner garden on the castle plateau only exists as a large open space without paths or plantings. It is used as an open-air stage.

Former garden, today's open space protected as part of the whole.

  • The western exit from the plateau cannot currently be used (new ownership structure), but the relief clearly shows the branching, circumferential path. There are some ornamental shrubs on the north and west walls as well as in the junction of the path leading down the slope as plant relics.
    • Ornamental shrubs, relief and surface are to be preserved during construction work or clearing of the woody stock,
    • It would be desirable to rehabilitate the northern or northwestern access as a path.
  • From the stairway to the inner garden (castle plateau) there is direct access (neo-Gothic wall passage with covered wooden platform and stairs) to the terraced southern slope of the castle hill. The entire southern slope is terraced. In the upper area there are still wide terraces, becoming narrower towards the bottom with dry stone walls of different heights. The warmth of the southern slope was used for growing vegetables and fruit. Peach trees on the upper wall, apple, plum and cherry trees as well as hazelnut bushes have been preserved on the other terraces. Fruit trees are estimated to be no more than 60/65 years old. In the last few decades the terraces have been equipped with small arbors and greenhouses. It is planned to clear out and replant the areas with fruit trees.
    • The natural stone dry walls are to be preserved, to be protected during the clearing out and, if necessary, to be renovated.
    • It is recommended to determine the variety of the remaining fruit trees and nut bushes. The new planting should include location-appropriate, late frost-resistant, possibly proven historical fruit varieties for the region.

Summary:

The inner and outer garden as well as the kitchen garden terraces on the southern slope of the Schlossberg are to be preserved. Planned changes must be applied for under monument protection law.

Colliery house, shaft house with headframe, pedestrian bridge B between the coal mine house and the shaft house, machine house as well as all preserved technical equipment in the buildings mentioned Talstrasse 7
(map)
1956-1959 Evidence of mining history of supraregional importance.

Colliery House:

The three-storey longitudinal building (masonry, plastered) was created in the first construction phase of the aforementioned mining facility. Later, a U-shaped extension, today's head building with a representative entrance area and three double-leaf doors, was added. Originally, the first and second floors of the longitudinal building were used as a warehouse, while administration rooms were located on the ground floor and in the U-shaped extension. In the annex was the seat of the pit manager and the dispatcher. The laundry was located in the western extension of the longitudinal building. The building has a partial basement, the basement rooms were used as rooms for the technical building equipment and as a warehouse for the laundry.

In 1995 the building was completely renovated and converted into an office complex with laboratory facilities. In 1993 the personal data archive of Wismut GmbH was housed on the ground floor, since 1996 the remaining rooms have been used by management and administrative staff of the Aue renovation company, which later became the Aue branch of Wismut GmbH. During the renovations, partition walls and, in some cases, ceilings were drawn in and an elevator was installed, the staircase was retained in its original form.

Formerly two cableway bridges for the employees led from the chews of the colliery house to the weather-protected transition towards the shaft house. Today one of these bridges is still preserved, which was repaired with a concrete renovation system in 2004 due to the corrosion of the reinforced concrete ceilings. The head building was partially provided with a thermal insulation composite system in accordance with the regulations in force at the time and the windows were replaced by new plastic insulating glass windows.

Shaft house and headframe:

The shaft house is a four-storey reinforced concrete frame building with a facade made of infilled clinker brickwork and ribbon windows made of single wooden windows with muntin division. In 1958, the shaft house was added to the third floor. The bunkers for loading skis are located there. Using this means of transport, pre-sorted waste rock was brought to the dump 371 via the inclined elevator (terraconic). The building has monolithic reinforced concrete ceilings with partially inserted steel platforms. The wooden window frames show severe weathering damage, so some of the windows had to be replaced between 2005 and 2007 for safety reasons. Furthermore, a concrete renovation of the supports and transoms, the load-bearing visible facade components, took place due to concrete corrosion in 2005 and 2006.

The building has two stairwells. When the system was in production, the northern staircase served the miners going on shift and the southern staircase was used by miners coming from work. Only in this way could the strong flow of people in the one-way system be safely controlled. The ground floor was primarily used for loading ammunition, and it also housed a smaller workshop. The lamp station with a reduced capacity, which has been preserved, is located on the first floor, and the personal dosimeter stations installed after 1990 are also located in this room. The surrounding rooms are also used in their original function, also reduced in size. There is a station for regeneration of the accumulators for the mine lamps as well as a drill bit grinding shop on a smaller scale. The former riser rooms are currently still in use, and a laundry has been arranged for special use. The boot washing facility is located on the first floor (this type of facility was only common from 1964) directly in front of the access to the pedestrian bridge (clean walkway). The former washing facility was larger and has been adapted to today's reduced needs. Office space was set up at this point.

The entrance and exit to the aerial ropeway platforms are on the second floor. The dispensing of the dosimetric devices and a test hunt for the calibration of geophysical measuring devices were also located here. The premises on this floor were formerly also used as a warehouse and as a coffee and tea kitchen. The room in which the aerial ropeway platforms are located leads to the third floor. The carriage circulation is located there. The former exit, which led to the radiometric processing via a bridge system, was bricked up with clinker masonry after these buildings and bridges were demolished. The room is currently not in use, but is still in its original condition and equipped with a Hunten and a machinist's house.

The approximately 50 meter high steel headframe is integrated into the shaft house and “grows” out of it. A two-tower four-storey conveyor cage system was used for conveying, which in the area of passenger transport drove three conveyor cages one below the other for 20 people each (upwards and downwards) and had stopping points on four floors in which two hundred or could be invited. It achieved a performance of 12 m / s for rope travel and 14 m / s for freight travel. The hoist cage system is currently not in use, on the second floor there is a handwritten note reminding of the last cable car ride on December 2, 1996. In addition to the conveyor cage system, the system has a container conveyor system. The so-called skips for mass conveyance ran especially in special rubble. This conveyor system reached a maximum speed of 14 m / s and could lift two skip containers with up to 4.3 m³. Currently only the container conveyor system is operational and is used for shaft storage. The traction sheave of the conveyor cage system was removed at the beginning of this year. The rope diameter of the rope sheaves located at a height of 40 meters is 7 meters. The headframe itself was manufactured in the 536 Cainsdorf plant and erected in 1958.

The shaft house, formerly the most important building on the company premises, is in a very bad condition.

Pedestrian bridge between the colliery house and the shaft house:

The preserved pedestrian bridge B (also known as the clean walkway) was used to pass over the workers coming from the shift. The necessary concrete renovation of the bridge took place in 2004. The pedestrian bridge for the workers on the shift has already been demolished, and the entrances to the mine and shaft house have been walled up.

Machine house:

The machine house is located north of the shaft house. It is a single-storey hall construction in reinforced concrete skeleton construction with a flat gable roof. Single concrete windows were arranged in a row as windows. The building was constructed in the same way as the machine house on the Terrakonik (inclined elevator for skips), which had already been demolished. The roof construction consists of a steel truss construction with reinforced concrete hollow boards.

The building is divided into three rooms. In the south-western area, the traction sheave hoisting machine for ropeway and ore mining was dismantled at the beginning of 2007, and a hoisting machine is currently being built at this point to store the shaft. For the dismantling, a gate had to be installed on the south side. The traction sheave hoisting machine for skip conveying is still there and is located in the south-eastern area behind. Their rope running diameter is 6.50 meters. In both rooms there are still the functional crane runway systems with overhead cranes with two load levels each for manual horizontal and vertical travel (built in 1958) as well as measuring devices and fault indicators with a functional diagram and one depth indicator each. The machinist's house with control panel has also been completely preserved in the rear room.

A third room is located north of the two traction sheave winding machine rooms. This contains a high-voltage system as well as two Leonard converters, for the indirect supply of the traction sheave motor, with transformer and external exciter (built in 1961) on a vibration foundation. In the middle of the room, also on a vibration foundation, are the basic exciter sets for driving the two Leonard converters.

Due to the size of the traction sheaves, the machine house has a large basement room with solid foundations. The basement was formerly used as a monitoring corridor and for ventilation and cooling of the hoisting machines; workshop rooms are currently located here. Among other things, a compressed air system for the brake drive of the hoisting machine with compressed air generator, compressed air tank and the complete brake drive itself has been preserved.

The building has two extensions. The smaller extension is on the north side of the building. The exit for the external ventilation and changing rooms were located here. The larger extension on the south side has a wooden roof with ridge turrets for the lower conveyor cable run. The exits for the upper conveyor cable run are above on the south side of the machine house. In the southern extension there is the former heavy-duty winch and a hoisting winch, which are used to prepare the shaft storage. The room is also used as a locksmith's workshop.

The building is currently showing severe concrete corrosion damage in the area of the facade supports and bars. Concrete renovation is planned for this year.
