FistballThe list of the international matches of the national fistball team of the GDR for women and men shows all of the games played against other national teams in the respective selections.

The women only played ten internationals, not a single one between 1960 and 1990. The men played 44 internationals, with no further matches between the 1970s and 1990s after the European Championship . The reason for this lies in the competitive sport resolution of 1969, which aimed to promote certain types of sport more strongly in order to be more successful than the FRG, especially at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. The level of economic expenditure per medal became the yardstick for evaluating the sports. After some sports, including fistball, which were not Olympic disciplines or which did not lead to the expectation of an Olympic medal success, were outsourced from the specially funded sports clubs and were not given access to the children's and youth sports schools, international sports traffic was also restricted, the financial means and redirected the staff in favor of the sponsored sports. Due to the discontinuation of funding, there was no basis for fistball to be practiced as a competitive sport either.

Team manager Erich Reichenbach looked after the women's team from 1957 to 1960, then took over the selection of men until 1963. From 1965 she was looked after by Horst Steudte , who was previously active himself. The former player Wolfgang Ehrlich also later became team manager; he held this position at all men's games in 1990.

Women

The GDR played ten national comparison games for women. All games took place in the open field. Eight friendly matches took place between 1957 and 1960, all of which were won. Two more games were played in 1990 as part of a three-country comparison that took place 30 years later, both of which were lost.
