from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a list of the songs in comrade sings! , the Bundeswehr songbook that was in use until 2017 . The spread of comrade sings! was stopped in May 2017 by the Federal Ministry of Defense .

background

The songbook was first published in 1958 by the Federal Ministry of Defense, command staff of the armed forces . The most recent edition appeared in 1991; this has remained unchanged since then. The song book saw itself as a “selection of the songs of the Bundeswehr” and contains “original songs, canons, sentences, text underlay, versions and transcriptions”. The songs are provided with chord numbering, partly with guitar accompaniment, with keyboard arrangement and partly for light polyphony. Guitar editing and co-editing was done by Martin Stein. The songbook is subdivided into the main sections On the March , Soldiers' Songs through the Ages , At the Campfire (folk songs, folk songs, ballads, petty songs and parodies).

His foreword is headed by Frederick the Great with the motto “There must be no tribulation ... it must be sung!” .

Spread stop in 2017

According to the Ministry of Defense, the change to the book was commissioned back in January 2017. According to the Ministry, the Armed Forces Office was given the task of developing a completely new form of the songbook. "All songs currently recorded in the songbook will be viewed critically and sensitively again with the involvement of the Center for Inner Guidance and the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr ," said the ministry. Songs like Schwarzbraun ist die Hazelnuss , the Panzerlied or the Westerwaldlied were particularly criticized . According to the ministry, these were misused during the Nazi era and during the Second World War as an expression of Nazi exaggeration, and the songbook also contains compositions and texts by Nazi ideologues .
