Valentin-Schmetzer-Weg , Kalbach-Riedberg

Valentin Schmetzer (1877–1937), social democrat and resistance fighter in the Third Reich, was arrested in 1935 for “political activities” and sentenced to three years in prison.

Valentin-Senger-Strasse , Bornheim

Valentin Senger (1918–1997), born in Frankfurt and from a Russian-Jewish family, is one of the city's literary chroniclers. After the Second World War, the trained technical draftsman became a journalist, then an editor at Hessischer Rundfunk. Among other things, Senger wrote the novels “Das Frauenbad - and other Jewish stories” and his autobiographical novel Kaiserhofstrasse 12 . In this house he was able to survive the Nazi barbarism with his parents and siblings and get to work from there. B. in Friessstraße .

Varrentrappstrasse , Bockenheim

Vatterstrasse , Seckbach

Johannes Vatter (1842–1916) was head of the Frankfurt educational institution for the deaf and dumb from 1874 to 1916. In Friedberg the Johannes Vatter School for the Deaf is named after him.

Via Regia

The Via Regia was a historical and prehistoric connection from Spain to Russia. In what is now Frankfurt's urban area, it ran from Höchst (old Elisabethenstrasse ) over the Nidda near Nied ( Rödelheimer Strasse , now Oeserstrasse ), past Rebstock through the Biegwald ( Biegweg ), then north past Bockenheim , over the Ginnheimer Höhe ( Diebsgrundweg ), the Dornbusch ( Marbachweg ) and the Lohrberg on to Bergen . The long-distance connection between Frankfurt and Leipzig was called Hohe Straße in the Middle Ages, probably because it avoided the wetlands and marshland as much as possible and could thus be used at all times of the year. In Bergen, the street name Hohe Straße is reminiscent of this name ; the traders who are loaded with heavy loads and who use them often stopped at the Ruhbank .

Victor-Gollancz-Weg , Eschersheim

Victor Gollancz (1893–1967), British-Jewish publisher, humanist and fighter for human rights. He was an opponent of Hitler from the very beginning and an opponent of the inhumane treatment of the Germans after the Second World War. 1960 Peace Prize of the German Book Trade .

Victor-Slotosch-Strasse , Bergen- Enkheim

Victor Slotosch opened an iron foundry in Enkheim in 1914, which over time developed into a factory for special steels, but ceased operations in 1996. The family grave is located in the Enkheim cemetery. On the former company premises (at the old foundry, Bessemerstraße, Victor-Slotosch-Straße and Vilbeler Landstraße), more than a dozen residential buildings have been built and moved into. The former name of Victor-Slotosch-Straße was Sandweg .

Victoria Avenue

Before the Senckenberg complex was named in honor of Johann Christian Senckenberg, the street was named after Empress Victoria, mother of Emperor Wilhelm II.

Vierhäusergasse , Schwanheim
