(Ordinance on the coat of arms of the Saar area of July 28, 1920 (Official Journal Reg.Kom. P. 43)) - ↑ Saarland coat of arms 1948 - 1956 : The shield is quartered by a silver cross in such a way that the two upper fields have the shape of a square. The top fields are cobalt blue, the bottom vermilion. The shield is surrounded by a silver border. On the shield is a bridge crown with 3 arches in vermilion
- ↑ Merzig-Wadern district : Square: 1 in silver a continuous red cross; 2 a red sloping bar in gold, covered with three mutilated silver eagles; 3 in gold a red wolf tang set at an angle; 4 in a field divided nine times by silver and blue, a golden armored and golden crowned, double-tailed red lion.
- ^ Neunkirchen district : Divided; above, in a blue field sprinkled with golden shingles, a growing and crowned, red-tongued golden lion; below in silver, in front a blue rose with a golden lug and golden sepals, behind a four-spoke black gear.
- ↑ Regionalverband Saarbrücken : Quartered: 1 and 4 in a blue field sprinkled with five silver clover-leaf crosses a double-tailed, gold-crowned, red-tongued silver lion; 2 and 3 in a blue field sprinkled with five golden shingles a double-tailed, red crowned and red-tongued golden lion.
- ↑ Saarlouis district : Under a shield head in gold, quartered by black and silver, a red sloping bar, covered with three mutilated silver eagles, accompanied by a blue heraldic lily at the top and a blue eight-pointed star at the bottom.
