Catholic parish church hl. Remigius and cemetery ObjectID : 58009 |
Auerbach location KG: Auerbach |
The parish church of St. Remigius was first mentioned in a document in 868. The core of the sacred building is late Romanesque and is now a Gothic staggered church. The three-aisled and three-bay nave is from 1382, the choir (with 5/8 end, vaulted with net ribs) is wider than the central nave and from 1410. The central nave is vaulted with star ribs, the side aisles vaulted with ribs. The tower on the west side is converted into an octagon at the top and equipped with an onion helmet. In 1953 late Gothic wall paintings were uncovered during a restoration inside the church. The high altar dates from 1729, the altarpiece shows the baptism of King Clovis by Remigius. A statue of St. George , around 1510, was carved over in the 17th century (especially the face) and thus transformed into St. Florian . |
