Hagenegg Castle is located in the middle of an English park landscape. The name of the castle refers to the family of "those von Hagen" who held royal offices in Kappel in the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1643 the building became the property of Johann Andreas von Rosenberg . As a result, the owners changed several times, until finally, in 1887, the Counts Thurn-Valsassina acquired the castle.

The oldest part of the building complex goes back to a system mentioned in 1316. The dominant part of the complex is a two-storey, seven-axis building from the second half of the 17th century. The east facade is flanked by two corner towers, which are covered by an onion helmet. The baroque wing is connected to the building of the 15th / 16th century by side wings towards the west. Century connected. In the west wing there is a wooden coffered ceiling from the 16th century, in the east wing there are two rooms with baroque stucco ceilings (around 1680) and simple stucco from the 18th century.

The palace chapel of St. Joseph is located in the south-west corner of the building. The altar panel from the end of the 17th century shows the Holy Family . In the chapel there is also a late Gothic figure of Leonhard from the middle of the 15th century.
