The historicist building that dominates Florianiplatz with its protruding gable and corner tower was built from 1892 to 1894. The local history museum located in it contains numerous Roman finds from the area, the portrait gallery from Freiberg Castle as well as a folklore and mineral collection.

The church was built from 1744 to 1747 under Cardinal Sigismund von Kollonitz according to the plans of the master builder Matthias Gerl under the direction of Josef Hueber , master builder in Graz, and was consecrated to the representation of the Lord (Mariä Candlemas, Mariäreinigung). The late baroque interior dates from the 18th century.

The former wing of the Piarist monastery connects to the north of the church . It was built from 1745 to 1747 by order of Cardinal Sigismund von Kollonitz and handed over to the Piarists . In 1824 the monastery was closed. The building served as a district court between 1850 and 2014.

The three-storey, nine-axis building has simple cornices and is bordered to the north by a three-axis corner projecting, which is structured like the church with giant pilasters.

The Marian column, also called Turkish column, stands in front of the parish church and dates from 1665. The figures of the hll. Sebastian, Rochus, Joseph and Johann Nepomuk date from the middle of the 18th century.
