The complex was first mentioned in a document in 1191. Today's castle, which was largely given its shape in the early 18th century, is owned by the Province of Upper Austria and houses a nursing home. The building is a three-wing structure with a wide transverse wing and a mansard roof.

The parish church of the Assumption of Mary dominates the landscape of the area on an elevation of the place. The building is surrounded by a cemetery and a fortified cemetery wall. The church was first mentioned in a document in 1111 as the property of a Sigihart. The late Gothic hall church building with elaborate galleries in the west and north was created in different periods of time and is a three-aisled, four-bay nave with ribbed vaults. The tower has a wedge roof.

The Wenceslas Church is in an exposed, free location and was first mentioned in documents in 1208. It is a late Gothic, two-aisled, three-bay nave building with a very dense star rib vault. The choir is believed to have been built around 1400. The former Wenceslas Church has served as a war memorial since 1964.

On the wall of the parish churchyard is the St. Michaels Chapel, a Gothic building that was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was built in the 19th century, contained an ossuary and served the Starhembergers as a crypt chapel from 1828.
