List of German-speaking free church historians

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The alphabetically arranged list of German-speaking free church historians includes those historians who publish in German (or who have published earlier) and whose research is largely concerned with the history of the newer free churches .

Research into the Anabaptist movement of the 16th century, which is often regarded as the beginning of the Free Church , is excluded here because it represents a topic of its own that has long been worked on intensively, and in general historians rarely use the term "Free Church" when describing the Anabaptists. .

Free church historiography

The history of the free churches of the last centuries is hardly dealt with in the theological faculties of universities . The church history lecturers of free church seminars and other members of free churches, especially pastors, devote themselves to it . These are mostly about the history of their own free church. Since around 1990, the year the Association for Free Church Research was founded , more general historical findings have been sought by means of cross-thematic comparisons between the denominations.

The respective main research areas are attached in brackets to the names of the historians selected here.
