This list of indigenous peoples contains a selection of indigenous peoples of the world in the five continents with details for 2014 and further articles (see also the alphabetical list of ethnic groups ).
Most of the indigenous peoples live on the large island of New Guinea : a total of over 1000, in Papua New Guinea more than 750 (see also the languages of Papua New Guinea ) and in Western New Guinea over 250 (such as Asmat , Fayu , Dani , Korowai , Amungme , Mimika ).
