Live and Unplugged is the first live album and the sixth work by the American rock band Sleeping with Sirens from Grand Rapids , Michigan .

It was released on April 8, 2016 via the US record company Epitaph Records . The live album includes eleven tracks from all of the band's past releases, as well as a cover from The Goo Goo Dolls and Sublime . The musicians played two concerts in Orlando , Florida in June 2015 , which were recorded for the album.

Backstory

On April 10, 2015, one day before the end of the world tour with Pierce the Veil , the band announced the We Like It Quiet Tour, a thirteen-concert acoustic tour in the United States . The concerts on June 22nd and 23rd, 2015, which took place at The Social in Orlando , Florida , were recorded for this live album.

On January 6, 2016, it was announced that Sleeping with Sirens would release a live album later in the year. In addition, singer Kellin Quinn published two teaser videos on his Instagram profile, which indicated an imminent publication. On February 13, 2016, a music video for the song Gold was released. Six days later, Live and Unplugged was officially announced for April 8, 2016. On the same day the title list was announced. Among the pieces on the album are Iris and Santeria, two cover songs from The Goo Goo Dolls and Sublime, respectively .

Live and Unplugged entered the US album charts at number 174 in the week ending April 30, 2016 and stayed there for a week. In the UK , the live album did not make the leap into the official album charts, but it did reach number four on the rock charts . In Belgium ( Flanders ) the album debuted at number 165.

Evan Lucy of the US music magazine Alternative Press wrote that, due to their energetic performance, the group managed to largely refute the stereotype that acoustically performed songs are less compelling than their electronically played counterparts, even if some embarrassing and incoherent interludes interrupt the flow of the album . Nevertheless, the reviewer describes the work as a success. Hit the Floor's Shadz Brooke Mustafa said the band did a phenomenal job of keeping their songs fresh and fun in their acoustic version. The live performance of the band is impressive and gives fans who have not yet seen the band live a good impression of their concert appearances.

According to Marc Deming from Allmusic, with the volume turned down, the band allows the listener to experience a different perspective of the band and their music. According to Deming, the band present some of the band's most famous songs on Live and Unplugged . Aneta Grulichova from the Australian online magazine The Music also wrote that you could feel all the emotions of the songs. She praises the singing of Kellin Quinn , which always hits the right point. According to Grulichova, the listener can also feel his charm when interacting with the fans. The live album is brilliant and shows the incredible qualities of the musicians, who in the past often hid behind the sounds of the electric guitars .
