Notes on the songs
There are significant differences between some of the recordings of the concert and the album versions:
- Land of Hope and Dreams and American Skin (41 shots) are two new songs that Springsteen played on the tour.
- Atlantic City , Mansion on the Hill and Youngstown , actually released on the folk albums ( Nebraska , The Ghost of Tom Joad ), are played as rock songs.
- The River is played without a guitar, only with piano and saxophone accompaniment.
- Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out contains the band introduction and one of the legendary Springsteen monologues, which is underlaid with a short cover version of Al Green's Take me to the River . Patti Scialfa's performance begins with a short version of Red Headed Woman and she then sings a verse from her song Rumble Doll .
- American Skin (41 Shots) focuses on the death of Amadou Diallo , an immigrant from Guinea who was shot by New York police officers.
