Llavica de Agencha (also short: Llavica ) is a village in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Llavica de Agencha is the central place of the canton Llavica in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Colcha "K" in the province of Nor Lípez . The village is located on the southern edge of the Salar de Uyuni , with an area of ​​more than 10,000 square kilometers, the largest salt lake in the world.

Llavica de Agencha is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera de Lípez in the southeast. Llavica de Agencha is located at a distance of 388 kilometers by road southwest of Potosí , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Potosí the asphalted highway Ruta 5 leads in a south-westerly direction 198 kilometers to Uyuni , from there it continues to the south-west and after 61 kilometers it reaches the bridge over the Río Grande de Lípez . Behind the bridge, Ruta 5 branches off in a north-westerly direction and after 36 kilometers reaches the village of Río Grande on the railway line from Uyuni to Avaroa on the Chilean border and on to Antofagasta . The road follows the railway line in a south-westerly direction and after another 30 kilometers reaches Julaca . Directly behind Julaca, an unpaved salt road branches off in a north-westerly direction and leads for a further 63 kilometers via Mañica , Colcha "K" , Chuvica , Atulcha and Santiago de Agencha to Llavica de Agencha .
