The Lower Saxony Logistics Center (LZN) in Hann. Münden, with a branch in Hanover, is the central procurement office of the state of Lower Saxony . It was set up in 2001 as a state company to equip the Lower Saxony police with uniforms. Since 2008, the LZN has been purchasing and distributing goods and services for the entire state administration of Lower Saxony.

Emergence

By 2001, the police officers were equipped with police uniforms and sportswear by clothing stores at the individual Lower Saxony police authorities. In 1996, the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior fundamentally changed the police's decentralized clothing system through nationwide centralization. With the establishment of the Lower Saxony Logistics Center in 2001, it was equipped as a state enterprise under the framework conditions of a commercial enterprise. A mail order business was established. The LZN as an independent organization within the police is now subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior.

Tasks and customers

Initially, the main task was to procure equipment and uniforms for the Lower Saxony police . In the course of time, more clothing customers were added, such as the state police of Hamburg , Bremen , Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Officials in the judiciary ( correctional officers , police officers ) in Lower Saxony, Hamburg, Bremen and Schleswig-Holstein as well as employees of the Federal Office for Goods Transport and members of the Hessen-Forst regional office are also supplied with uniforms. A foreign customer is the city police of Baden near Vienna in Austria, which equips around 30 officers.

Extended customer base

From 2008 the tasks of the LZN were expanded significantly by taking over procurement for large parts of the Lower Saxony state administration. This includes all ministries.

business

The LZN is based in Hann. Münden near the Gimte district . It is directly adjacent to the local branch of the Lower Saxony Police Academy (former Lower Saxony State Police School ). The LZN has around 90 employees. Customer orders are placed via a web shop on the Internet. The delivery takes place similar to a mail order company with the post . For the work clothing at the main location in Hann. Münden operated a warehouse. The branch office in Hanover is responsible for central purchasing. Equipment such as office supplies and furniture are bought centrally, but the manufacturers deliver them directly to the police stations and other customers in Lower Saxony.
