The Loher Holz is a landscape protection area in the Lower Saxon town of Uchte in the joint municipality of Uchte in the Nienburg / Weser district .

The protected landscape area with the license plate LSG NI 71 is around 324  hectares . It is completely part of the EU bird sanctuary "Diepholzer Moorniederung". In the south it borders on the nature reserve " Uchter Moor ". Parts of the nature reserve have merged into the landscape protection area. The "Large and Small Wood" protected landscape area, designated in 1970, has been completely merged into the "Loher Holz" protected landscape area. The area has been under protection since June 7, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Nienburg.

The landscape protection area, consisting of four sub-areas, is located northwest of Uchte on the edge of the Great Moor within the Diepholzer Moorniederung . It is mostly forested Geest back under protection, from the marsh lowland protrude. The forests - Hespeloh ( ) and Eichloh ( ), Steinloh ( ), Gösloh ( ) as well as Großes ( ) and Kleines Holz ( ) - are predominantly structurally rich deciduous and mixed forests as well as coniferous forests on sandy soils with oak and beech stands or pine and spruce stands as the dominant tree species. At the edge there are wooded areas on the heavily drained bog sites of the Great Moor within the landscape protection area. Here mainly birch and pine trees grow. Areas used as arable land and other small-scale open land structures are also included in the protected area.

The forests have a high proportion of old and dead wood .

The area is the habitat of red kite , honey buzzard , tree falcon , black , medium and small woodpecker as well as oriole . The open land areas included are the habitat or feeding habitat of crane , quail , stonechat and whinchat .
