Lori "LoLo" Jones (born August 5, 1982 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is an American athlete and bobsleigh athlete . In 2008 and 2010 she was indoor world champion in hurdles and bobsleigh team world champion in 2013 .

Life

Jones stayed under 13 seconds for the first time in the 100-meter hurdles in 2002 , but did not start at international meetings until 2004. Indoors she won the 2003 US University Championships, 2007, 2008 and 2009 US Championships.

Her first major championships were the 2007 World Championships in Osaka . In 12.62 s she finished sixth. At the World Indoor Championships in Valencia in 2008 , she won the title in 7.80 s on the 60-meter course.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached the final of the 100-meter hurdles and was seventh there in a time of 12.72 s, after she stumbled on the penultimate hurdle while in the lead and thus lost the gold medal that had almost certainly been won. In the semifinals she ran a personal best in 12.43 seconds, which would have been enough for first place in the final. Jones had similar bad luck the following year. At the US trials she touched Michelle Perry and stumbled, which meant that she could not qualify for the World Championships in Berlin. Shortly afterwards it ran in Greece in 12.47 s world best time. In Berlin, the new world champion Brigitte Foster-Hylton was four hundredths of a second slower.

In 2010 Jones was able to defend her title at the World Indoor Championships in Doha. In doing so, she set a new American record in 7.72 s and ran the third-fastest time on the all-time world best list , behind Susanna Kallur and Ludmila Engquist . In the outdoor season, she won the Diamond League races in Doha, Oslo, New York, Gateshead and Monaco. She only lost the overall victory to Priscilla Lopes-Schliep in the last race . She also came second in the Continental Cup . In 2011, Jones had spinal cord surgery.

At the 2012 US Trials, Jones finished third and qualified for the Olympics . In London she reached fourth place behind her two teammates and the Australian winner Sally Pearson with a time of 12.58 s.

In winter 2012/13 and at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi , she was a pusher in the two-man bobsleigh run by Jazmine Fenlator and Elana Meyers . At the 2013 World Cup in St. Moritz , she was world champion with the USA team.

LoLo Jones has a competition weight of 65 kg with a height of 1.75 m. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a combination of Spanish and Business.
