Lorenzo Martini (born December 21, 1994 in Trieste ) is an Italian grass skier . He is a member of the squad of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) and has competed in the World Cup since 2009 .

Career

Martini's first FIS race was the Super-G in Wilhelmsburg on June 5, 2009, in which he finished 38th and last. The following day he made his debut in the World Cup in the super combined , but was disqualified in the slalom run. Martini won his first World Cup points with 23rd place in Maria Gugging's slalom on August 30th, 2009. In September, he finished two more times in the top 30 at the World Cup final in Forni di Sopra , finishing the 2009 season 59th in the overall World Cup. At the 2009 Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , his best result was 14th place in the giant slalom.

At the beginning of the 2010 season , Martini achieved his best World Cup result to date with 14th place in the slalom of Čenkovice , further top 20 results followed at the end of the season with two 18th places in the last two slaloms in Frais-Chiomonte and Sestriere . In the overall World Cup he improved to 44th place. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin , his best result was tenth place in the slalom. A year later he took two 16th places in the giant slalom and the Super-G at the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen . In the slalom and thus also in the combination, he was eliminated. He also took part in the World Championship in the general class, which was held at the same time , and his best result was 20th place in the super combined. In the 2011 season , Martini was among the fastest 20 in three races in the World Cup, making him 36th in the overall World Cup.

In the 2012 season Martini only took part in two World Cup slaloms in Trieste , in which he was 23rd and 22nd. He also competed in FIS races as well as the Junior World Championship 2012 in Siegerland , where his best result was 17th place in the Super-G.
